A Bright Idea

Leave it to elected officials to mandate you (and I) spend $50 per bulb to light our homes.

The odd part of the this, is that no one considers the minimal cost of the standard 100 watt bulbs leaves a lot of margin to spend on power before it costs the same as the "new" bulbs.

IF a 100 watt bulb uses .1 KW per hour, you run it for 5 hours per day, every day for a year, you will spend about $28 per year. Plus the $2 per bulb, you hit $30 per year, leaving $20 to cover the majority of the next year. Not really a fantastic money maker, even though it breaks even shy of 2 years.

I guess this is green at any cost.

Required to Repay

Its funny, but the third paragraph of this article actually states that the federal government is required to repay from the pensions it is raiding to pay its bills........ HMMMMM
